Acumen - Journals

Things that are new with me, in jot note form:
-Back in school again in hopes of becoming successful in life. Doing Geomatics Engineering, which is a discipline involving mapping, navigation, GPS/GIS, cartography and other geographic related methods. I have a few years left to go until I'm graduated again
-I came out of the closet... sort of.
-I got myself a Fender 12 String Acoustic which I treasure dearly. Getting a mic or even a pickup for it hasn't happened yet. I'm focusing on learning how to play before I record :p (Joking) I've been getting good at it, not as easy to play as 6 string but the sound it makes is worth it.
-The production of tracks have slowed down, I'm still toying with my software so new tracks will see the light of day eventually. Keep checking back.

Hey people. Haven't been on dmusic much at all lately.
I have a few tracks that have been kicking around, and I'm still toying around with software occasionally, so there are a few potential tracks that might just see the light of day.

Listen to Slink, i think it's kinda cool, even after a few months

October 27th, 2005 @ 6:47PM

I still haven't done anything with recording in quite some time.
And dmusic hasn't been seeing much of me lately. I mean, I created that fucking logo for fuck sakes. ;) (Wink)

These days I'm working away for mere survival here in Newfoundland. I've been noticing that getting into the IT field is a bit of a mistake for me, and I've been contiplating on going back to school next year. I don't know what I'm going to do, or how I'm going to pull off the money to go there... actually I don't know much at this point...

I saw Pearl Jam last month in one of their two shows in St. John's, Newfoundland. I can easily say it was the best thing I was ever too. :D (Big Grin) It blew my mind, so many great songs played, and the song with Stone singing was a great treat. That was Saturday's show, I wish I had made it to Sunday's show because something amazing happened.

I had a friend of mine that died last year, and he was the biggest PJ fanatic that I knew (in all seriousness). The fact that he was one year away from PJ here in Newfoundland was kinda sad and everything. But it really changed everything when Vedder took out a piece of paper from his pocket reading about my friend Jodey. Apparently a friend of mine got the letter to Vedder and he read it out loud. He dedicated the song Light Years to him, and needless to say in reference to the letter, a very small town was touched.

So yeah, I couldn't really believe it happened, but it did and I thank the band for not only coming to this desolate rock called Newfoundland, putting on two great shows, and dedicating a song to Jode that certainly helped some wounds heal, including his family, all his friends (including by brother), and pretty much everyone from the small town Tilting.

Crappy show poster though...

I'll be back eventually.

Listen to Vapor Methods. Since I finished it I haven't got ashamed of it so I'm still proud of what I done.

December 15th, 2004 @ 9:12AM

I do nothing at work, and seeing as they have a nice connection here at the school board I have taken the opportunity to upload the final mixes of the Vapor Methods album. Some tracks have noticable differences, some appear the same, but nonetheless, the album is reuploaded for your listening indulges.

New song available. It's called Niebla Blanco (spanish for White Fog). I think you should listen to it. To describe it... a melodic song field with reverb rich textured sections with mixed in moise experimentation. A unique track in the acumen catalog

LoFi = Here
Hifi = Here
Download = Here

I haven't done a whole lot music wise since completing Vapor Methods, but what has gone has came around. Listen to the first post-Vapor Methods Acumen track called "Ground Level Limits." Compiled of harmonics and typical Acumen fashions of drum sampling (this time from Shellac tracks Squirrel Song and Song Against Itself) and synth fucking. Listen while you can (suckers).
